At Arcadia, we believe that our society will become so much more beautiful if you help build it yourself. We give you a reason to step out the door. We shake things up, enthuse and challenge people. We will be seeing the results in the form of plays, exhibitions and works of art, and used as inspiration for events throughout the province. And we do that every three years. And we need you. You, with your good ideas, with your creativity, with your infectious optimism, with your can-do mentality. Or just you, with your wish to participate. You are a creative, crafts(wo)man or freelancer, with unique skills that you would like share with us to make Arcadia 2025 a success.

You are an artist or creative who likes to make new things. You like to think differently and shine a new light on problems and events and want to participate in Arcadia.

Do you have a skill that would be useful for us? Maybe you can shoot amazingly creative pictures, are a pro at copywriting or can organise an event in your sleep? We look forward to receiving your portfolio! However, sound engineers, podcasters and stage builders are also very welcome. We love working with freelancers, so who knows, we may approach you for a great job!

Arcadia Jong is aimed at young people living in Fryslân. By learning to look, think and work as a researcher, maker or artist, they get to develop new skills that they will need for the future.

Bouwurk

In 2025, we will be working on Bouwurk on the Oldehoofsterkerkhof in Leeuwarden: an innovative building made of sustainable materials and creative building blocks. Everyone can help build and contribute to the project. Once built, it will be used as a creative centre for people looking for a place to make, invent and experiment.

An ambitious art exhibition where international artists work on new pieces around the theme of “soil”. To inspire you and offer new perspectives. Because what does the Frisian soil (Fryske grûn) mean for someone who does not live in Fryslân?
