Over the coming months, sixteen young creators from Fryslân will develop their own productions, guided by the BROEI team and professional mentors of their choice.
BROEI brings together a diverse group of creatives – theatre makers, musicians, writers, filmmakers, visual artists and more. As part of Arcadia, the BROEIers will tour the province, sharing their work with new audiences in unexpected places.
BROEI is the stage for the next generation of talent. Raw. Fresh. Full of imagination.

Sarah-Rebecca Andringa Theatre maker Sarah-Rebecca (17) from Sneek is teaming up with a group of young people from the Waadhoeke region to create a bold performance where anything goes: acting, music, text, dance or something completely different. | Cis Hilligehekken Cis (24) from Leeuwarden draws, designs and creates with her hands. She also crafts poetry with carefully chosen words, offering glimpses into the soft, vulnerable corners of life. |
Luisa Moreno Luisa (16) from Heerenveen expresses her emotions through colour. Through her visual work, she hopes to touch people and create something beautiful together with other young artists at BROEI. The ultimate goal? A powerful, eye-catching exhibition! | Charlotte Westra Writer Charlotte (21) from Leeuwarden dives into a powerful theme: inequality of opportunity and poverty, seen through the eyes of young people. She’s writing a performance, and she’s not doing it alone: she’s collaborating with both young people and professionals. |
Rowan Vis After attending writing courses at Explore the North and Meeuw Jonge Theatermakers, Rowan (17) from Leeuwarden is determined to become a playwright. He has already written part of a new script – a project close to his heart. At BROEI, he’ll complete it and direct it himself. | Quirine Kok Quirine (23) from Leeuwarden is creating a performance with – and for – the queer community in her city. As she puts it: “This group deserves a strong stage!” But this is just the beginning! Her bigger dream? Founding a queer theatre collective where everyone can take part. |
Berend Moed Berend (23) from Leeuwarden feels right at home in graphic design and film. He’s currently working on a new movie – a follow-up to his short film Femme Fatale. This time, he dives into the underbelly of Leeuwarden, wrapped in a stylish film noir vibe. | Lútzen Rijpma Lútzen (19) is deeply passionate about music and musicals. It all started with singing and playing the piano, but now he also plays guitar, bass, and trumpet. At BROEI, he’s writing and performing his own one-act musical — homemade from start to finish, straight from the heart. |
Bastiaan Okkema Bastiaan (15) from Goutum lives for theatre, film and photography. He and his friends have already created short films – and now they’re working on their third! The BROEI stage gives them a platform to reach even more people. | Mayte Veenstra Mayte (19) from Húns first performed her self-produced Frisian-language music at last summer’s BROEI event at the Simmerdeis Festival. Not long after, she formed her own band and began performing live more often. Now, she’s exploring how to bring more theatricality to her stage presence. |
Tanne Wijbenga Tanne (24) from Akkrum is a producer and composer who brings electronic, downtempo, and ambient vibes to life — often with a touch of organic house. At BROEI, he’s taking things to the next level with an immersive audiovisual show, combining his own music with a dynamic mix of LED screens, projections, lights and set design. | Guusje Hempenius Guusje (19) from Leeuwarden is a creative all-rounder working on her own exhibition. As she beautifully puts it, she wants to capture the mourning that comes with losing an uninhibited childhood. She expresses this through poems, sculptures, photographs – and whatever else her inspiration leads her to. No limits. Just pure expression. |
Yusuf Kemal Yusuf (22) from Heerenveen is a multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer. Originally from Turkey, he moved to the Netherlands five years ago, and he tells his story through music. At BROEI, Yusuf is experimenting with combining live-looping and dreamy neoclassical piano with film and visuals to create an immersive concert experience. | Fleur van de Berg Fleur (19) from Sneek uses art to process and express her emotions. She’s passionate about transformation and personal growth. Her upcoming exhibition explores themes like self-discovery and the inner child. But it’s not just about displaying work. She hopes to inspire others with her story and creative process behind it. |
Rixt Siderius en Milena Koetschruiter Playwrights Milena (19) and Rixt (19) tackle the theme of expectations – something they feel strongly about as young women. Together, they’re creating a performance packed with protest, music, theatre, and, of course, a good dose of humour. |
