Arcadia Young

Program

Young people are curious and tend to come up with new inventions and discover life through play. At Arcadia Young, they're given the space to experiment, collaborate and make their voices heard. We challenge them to explore boundaries, make mistakes and learn from them.

What if your classroom worked like an artist thinks?

Young people are curious and tend to come up with new inventions and discover life through play. At Arcadia Young, they’re given the space to experiment, collaborate and make their voices heard. We challenge them to explore boundaries, make mistakes and learn from them.

For schools across Fryslân

Arcadia Jong is designed for primary, secondary and higher education. Through hands-on learning programs, we challenge young people to view the world differently. Students work together on real projects, often alongside artists connected to Arcadia. The projects range from photo series on identity, to dancing through landscapes, and having deep conversations about life in the classroom. Together, we develop skills that matter. Skills for now and for the years to come.

three programmes

Arcadia Young has three inspiring programmes that suit different interests and learning styles:

  • Community: How do we want to live together? With immersive games like De Dierocratie (Animalocracy, PO) and Samenleven, het spel (Society, the game)? In this programme, young people (Secondary schools, secondary vocational education) discover the essence of democracy and citizenship in a playful way.
  • Creativity: This programme all about research and making things, from creative maker sessions in Bouwurk to mobile studios travelling to schools and events.
  • Imagination: Language as a bridge between inner and outer worlds. Projects like MegaZINE and Mini-Museum encourage young people to find and shape their stories.

bouwurk

the beating heart of arcadia young

Arcadia Young comes to life in Bouwurk, Fryslân’s mienskipshûs (community centre). Here, young Frisians can share how they view the world and hone their skills and talents. In schools across the province, Arcadia Young also helps children and students discover how to understand and shape the world around them through collaboration, art and creativity. Together, we can build a future abounding in imagination and connections.

who is arcadia young for?

For everyone aged 4 to 27; from primary school pupils to young creators and recent graduates. An important role is also reserved for professionals such as teachers and artists. Together, we’ll build a world of outstanding imagination and creativity.
