Arcadia Young

Program

Young people are curious and tend to come up with new inventions and discover life through play. At Arcadia Young, they're given the space to experiment, collaborate and make their voices heard. We challenge them to explore boundaries, make mistakes and learn from them.

arcadia young is for anyone who wants to keep discovering

We create adventures centered on imagination, making, playing, and exploring together. Not to deliver something perfect, but to create space for new ways of living together. Because complex times call for fresh questions — and young people ask them best.

We start here, in the now — in a classroom, a square, a greenhouse, or a festival hall. Together, we set a point on the horizon. Not to race toward it, but to search along the way. While playing. While imagining. While creating.

We dare to doubt, listen to each other, and build on one another’s insights. We practice on a small scale, with big impact. The goal: to playfully find our way in the world.

dierocracy

That’s how Dierocracy was born — a playful citizenship game for primary schools. Through interactive videos, music, and play — with animals in the lead — children explore how power works, how to make decisions together, and what happens when your voice goes unheard.

living together, the game

We’re also developing Living Together, the Game: a citizenship adventure for secondary schools and vocational education that ends in a festival. There, you’ll enter a world of games, conversations, and installations where you explore your role in society and community.

join the making program at bouwurk

We’re building alongside the MAKING program at Bouwurk — a contemporary cathedral in the heart of Leeuwarden. A house of community where we ask questions by making. By drawing, molding, cutting, pasting — and above all, building together. Because often, the answer isn’t found in a book, but in your hands.

We create space for doubt and decisiveness. For gentleness and activism. For joy and meaning. Every perspective matters — and in polyphony, the richest plans take shape.

arcadia young isn’t a project. it’s an invitation.

To create, to learn, and to dream — always by making, always through imagination, always together. Will you join us?

who is arcadia young for?

For everyone aged 4 to 27; from primary school pupils to young creators and recent graduates. An important role is also reserved for professionals such as teachers and artists. Together, we’ll build a world of outstanding imagination and creativity.
