Sharing bread and stories

Brood Stoven (Slow-baked Bread) in collaboration with Stichting DOKLABS: Natasja Knap and Marja Griede

A bit of flour, some water, hands in and around the dough — and before you know it, you’re not just sharing bread, but also stories.

You’ll take a seat at the kitchen table in Bouwurk with a small group of people you probably haven’t met before. Then, the kneading begins. While the wood-fired oven outside is heating up, our stories rise along with the dough. What’s on your mind? What do you rarely say out loud? Do you recognise yourself in others — or not at all? And what will your bread taste like? Everyone is welcome and bakes their own shaped loaf, which we’ll share together once it comes crackling fresh out of the oven. There’s plenty of time to connect.

What can you expect?

  • Making and breaking bread together – a fresh, warm encounter

  • A creative way to give flavour to your personal story

  • An open space to listen, tell, and share

Come as you are. The bread table is yours!

Brood Stoven (Slow-baked Bread) takes place every Friday from 10:00 to 11:30 am. An English speaker will be present. You are welcome even if Dutch isn’t your first language.

This event takes place in the Keuken at Bouwurk, at the Oldehoofsterkerkhof in Leeuwarden, Fryslân.
